Community Services

For ninety years, the Rotary Club of Meaford has helped shape the community through projects that combine practical service with long-term investment.

Community Infrastructure

Since receiving its charter in 1936, the club has contributed an estimated $3 million to local and international initiatives, many of which continue to serve the community every day.

Rotary's impact can be seen throughout Meaford. Over the decades, the club has helped establish Beautiful Joe Park, Harbourfront Park, and Fred Raper Park, and built the Russ Bumstead Rotary Pavilion overlooking the harbour. It has supported the development of the arena and contributed to improvements at Meaford Hall, Meaford Hospital, the Thornbury Medical Centre, and Chapman House. The club also equipped the Youth Technology Room at the Meaford Public Library, provides scholarships and bursaries for local students, and continues to support the area's high school band.

Rotary House

One of the club's most significant recent achievements is Rotary House, created through the purchase and restoration of the former Church of the Nazarene on Trowbridge Street. Today, the building serves as a community hub, housing the Meaford Rotary Thrift Shop and the Meaford Food Bank. The club also owns and operates the Godfrey Apartments, providing affordable housing for residents of the community.

Community Events & Initiatives

Rotary remains deeply involved in community life through a wide range of annual events and service projects. These include the Easter Egg Hunt, the annual Fish Fry, community clean-ups, the Coldest Night of the Year walk in partnership with United Way Bruce Grey, the Scarecrow Parade, the Canada Day BBQ held in conjunction with military families from 4th Canadian Division Training Centre Meaford, the Godard's Independent BBQ supporting the Food Bank, the Seabin environmental initiative, support for the Meaford International Film Festival (MIFF), and Christmas on the Bay.

The club also provides ongoing financial support for local mental health initiatives. Together, these activities raise funds, strengthen community connections, and support neighbours facing food insecurity, homelessness, and other challenges.
